Pumpkin Petanque
This Halloween game takes inspiration from a leisure pursuit in the South of France.
Resources:
* one small pumpkin per player
* one large hollowed out Halloween-faced pumpkin
The object of the game is to bowl your pumpkin along the ground so it rolls as close
to the large Halloween-faced pumpkin as possible. Players must bowl from behind
a line
which their feet or toes must not cross.
Players can use their pumpkin to shunt another player's pumpkin out of the way.
The winner is the person whose pumpkin is the closest to the Halloween-faced one.

Spooky Story Telling
This is an entertaining activity for after dark. Have your guests gather around
in a circle. Dim the lights to create a spooky atmosphere, or even turn all the
lights out and have some torches handy to shine some ghostly beams.
Think up an interesting start to your spooky story.
Each participant then contributes
their own twists and turns and gory details as you go round the circle.
Some starting ideas:
* The night was inky black, but ahead they could see the glow of headlights approaching
through the rain.
* Passing by, it was a wonder that none of them had stumbled over it, the dark and
muddy shape on the path.
* The front door of the sinister and gloomy house stood open, as if welcoming them.
If you have a large group, then once around the circle should suffice, with the
last person inventing the ending. However, with smaller numbers, going twice around
the circle may be necessary to ensure a satisfactory development.
