Groundhog Scramble
Have them line up close together to form a tunnel by standing with their legs apart.

The ?groundhog? at the front of the line wriggles to the end of the tunnel and joins the end of the tunnel standing their legs apart. The next ?groundhog? at the front of the line takes their turn and travels down the tunnel. When they pop up at the other end the next player can start.

If you have lots of participants you can form two lines and have groundhog tunnel races or award prizes to the fastest groundhog.
Shadow Shape Mystery
Shine a torch on large sheets of paper attached to the wall. Have the children take turns to stand in front of the light while the others to trace their shadow. The shadow shapes can be removed from the wall, mixed up and decorated.

The final activity is a guessing game where everyone tries to guess which shadow shape belongs to which person.
This Groundhog Day activity is well suited for pre-schoolers.
Groundhog Shadow Hunt
This Groundhog Day activity is like the classic treasure hunt, only the participants are hunting for strategically placed groundhog shadows.

Hiding more than one groundhog and having a small treat for those who find one is a good idea when dealing with younger groundhog shadow hunters
